Science of weight loss:
It is a struggle for many people to lose weight and keep it away. Sometimes, 90% of the articles we read seem to be about tricks and hacks to lose weight.This is due to two things. For many people, weight is a big problem and 2. People always seek a shortcut. Even if some of these tricks work, people who have lost weight tend to recover instead of keeping them off.
Weight recovery is in fact a mechanism for survival from our distant days as hunters. Therefore, when we lose weight, our body sees this as a survival threat and begins to circulate hormones that affect our appetite. This leads to overflow and weight recovery.
Fat storage was considered a good thing in the days of the hunter – gatherer. It meant that we had an energy reserve for times when food was not available, because it was not so easy to go to the supermarket.Moreover, collecting more fat than we used to, just for extra measure, would mean more energy in case of an emergency, such as starvation. For this reason, our bodies protect fat stores, just in case we are stuck in a time of hunger but still have a lot of energy or physical activity to spend. The ability to store fat in bad times would definitely have been an advantage for our predecessors and helped to ensure survival. This survival mechanism is unfortunately no longer helpful and only promotes obesity in the population.In a time when food is abundant and physical activity is relatively low, storing fat is not helpful, but can be harmful to our health.
What can we do, then? Obviously, if you spend your time and effort losing weight, you want to keep it off. Once you have lost your weight, exercise needs to go on without excuses or barriers to why you can’t. Just because you have lost weight, you should not reduce your workouts. Maintaining a healthy weight requires work and commitment. Physical activity is one of the most important aspects of weight loss, so make sure that you integrate it into your everyday routine.
Likewise, the mental aspect of weight loss should not be underestimated. Will can help us to overcome this biological vestige. Daily weighting can be a constant self-monitoring method that gives you more control over weight management.It helps you ” catch ” when the weight starts to rise on the scale. It also makes you more aware of what you eat, thereby strengthening the behaviors that led to the weight loss to start with or what works to keep the weight stable. Eat a variety of foods to obtain all the necessary nutrients. Include selections of whole grains, fruits, vegetables and lean protein.
